The NFL Injury Report
If you’re looking for a few injuries to watch this weekend, the NFC injury report is your best bet. With two key games on the schedule, here are some players to keep an eye on. You’ll see that NEW ORLEANS SAINTS WR Tre’Quan Smith and RB Dwayne Washington are out, as are ATLANTA FALCONS CB Darren Hall and WR Drake London. Meanwhile, the TENNESSEE TITANS will be without OL Jamarco Jones.
Harold Landry will miss all of 2022
The Tennessee Titans have announced that outside linebacker Harold Landry will miss the entire 2022 season. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament during practice on Wednesday. The news was first reported by ESPN and then confirmed by the team. Landry was scheduled to practice Thursday, but the schedule was changed late Wednesday. The injury is devastating news for the Titans, as Landry was the top pass rusher on the team.
Harold Landry is a first-round pick out of Boston College in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has been one of the Titans’ top outside linebackers for the past two seasons. In his first year, he has compiled 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups. He has also made the Pro Bowl, and has played all three games during the 2021 Pro Bowl. The Titans have not yet announced whether they will replace him or resign him.
Mekhi Becton expected to miss all of 2022
Mekhi Becton limped off the practice field on Monday. While the injury is not related to the knee injury that kept him out of the 2019 season, he will be out for an extended period of time. The Jets selected the offensive tackle in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but the injury could end his season prematurely. The injury will require surgery to repair the kneecap.
The Jets did not release the official cause of the knee injury. Mekhi Becton will undergo further testing to determine the extent of the damage. While he is likely to miss most of the 2022 season, he is not expected to miss all of it. The MRI will reveal if there is additional damage to the knee.
Tre’Davious White on PUP list
Tre’Davious White will start the season on the Reserve/PUP list. As a result, he will miss the first four games of the season. He will be out for the opener in Los Angeles, the home game against the Titans, and the road games at Miami and Baltimore in weeks three and four. In addition, he will not be able to practice during his time on the PUP list.
White was expected to start the season, but the injury has put him on the PUP list for the first four games. While the team is hopeful that White can return soon, head coach Sean McDermott said there was a high chance that he would miss the first four games.
Zane Gonzalez on IR
Zane Gonzalez is out for at least three games after injuring his quad last Sunday. The Carolina Panthers will likely sign Lirim Hajrullahu off of Washington’s practice squad to fill Gonzalez’s spot on the roster. Hajrullahu was on the Panthers practice squad in December but was released because of work visa issues. The injury will prevent Gonzalez from making his usual 20-of-22 field-goal attempts and 23 extra points.
The Panthers have signed veteran kicker Eddy Pineiro to a one-year contract. The team previously placed Zane Gonzalez on injured reserve. Pineiro, who worked under special teams coordinator Chris Tabor in Chicago, made all eight field-goal attempts last season and made nine out of ten extra-point attempts. He was also the starting kicker with the Chicago Bears before the Jets. He is expected to fill Gonzalez’s big shoes in Carolina.
